MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

Reporting to the General Manager and with technical ability to operate as a maintenance technician assumed, the main responsibilities for this role include:

·       Oversee the daily operations of the Maintenance Department across all shifts

·       Establish suitable systems so that maintenance support and capabilities are consistent across all shifts

·       Coordinate the installation, maintenance and repair work of plant machinery and equipment

·       Optimise the prevention maintenance programme in the company resulting in reduced downtime due to mechanical failures

·       Monitor downtime, determine root cause and make proposals for eliminating cause and resulting downtime

·       Evaluate systems to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.

·       Delegate tasks to maintenance personnel across the shifts to ensure that equipment is maintained and running at optimum levels at all times

·       Identify training needs so that there is a fit for purpose level of expertise and abilities in house

·       Establish logs and trackers so that open projects are managed within budget and agree timelines

·       Technical responsibility for maintaining, developing, troubleshooting and validating the systems

·       Provide technical expertise and leadership in the area of process and equipment installation and development

·       Positively engage in team discussions to identify and put in place permanent and effective technical solutions to improve Plant performance, reduce downtime and reduce costs

·       Build and develop contacts with external technical representatives, vendors agents etc, in order to keep abreast of technological developments, new product introductions etc

·       Ensure that a preferred supplier list of spare/consumable providers is established

·       Monitor and evaluate safety practices and ensure compliance with legislation where relevant. (CE compliance of equipment)

·       Supporting product, process and equipment analysis and improvement projects

·       Working as member of a team to resolve open issues, drive process improvements in design, layout and operational performance 

·       Advise management team on recommended adjustments and modifications to production process

·       Provide technical expertise on the introduction of additional equipment and machinery to the plant

·       Be a champion for H&S best practices in ensuring machinery and equipment is maintained and operating correctly

·       Support development of production team personnel in the area of first fixes where appropriate and safe working practices

·       Support all New Product Introduction launches including new equipment design and purchase

·       Establish a database of learnings from previous mechanical failures/periods of downtime for future reference

·       Ensure all maintenance works are planned and executed and completed thoroughly with any learnings documented for future reference

·       Set a high standard for plant hygiene, cleanliness and organisation including thorough clean-up of all works completed

·       Implement 6S activities to improve visual factory

 

The most suitable candidate should be:

·       Trades Qualified with working experience gained in a high-volume manufacturing environment

·       Experienced at supervising maintenance teams with people management responsibilities 

·       Able to read and interpret technical drawings

·       Experienced in managing preventative management programmes

·       Solution focused, positively engages in trouble shooting problems on the line and considers all possible solutions

·       Able to work on own initiative, results focused 

·       An excellent communicator, with the ability to articulate and recommend solutions to the management team

·       Proactive, focused on preventative maintenance and minimum unplanned downtime

·       An attention to detail person

·       A team player, excellent attitude and work ethic
